Christmas came early

I have been on the look out for one of these beauties for a while now and watched several go for silly money, even after discovering a nifty local app to save postage costs. The ebay fairies were finally smiling on me this week when I won my very own  Singer 99K,  even easier the pick up was on my husband's way home from work.

The cover is in good condition and surprisingly the machine is not hernia inducingly heavy.

Even more exciting was finding the manual still inside,

those  fifties illustrations are fabulous.

Look at the  matching apron and curtain!

The box of bits looks fun and appropriately festive.

This interesting website dates the machine as being made in 1956. I just need to clean and oil her and then she will be ready to play.

I am so looking forward to using her.

Have you used one of these beauties?
Surely I cannot be alone in my love for them!

  4. I have one and if you think it needs it I can recommend getting it serviced as it wasn't expensive and runs really well. A great find with the instructions and parts, have you named her yet?! Heather x

  11. Gorgeous! They are such classic machines and yes you should name her. The manual with it's original illustrations are just fantastic. I'm after a solid semi industrial/industrial machine at some point and these old singers are pretty robust and hardy I think. Loved looking at your blog very inspiring seeing how you find time with seven, I have two so no excuses..! xx

  12. What a treat to find! Complete with box and manual too! I've recently started to look around for my first machine (which would suit a very beginning beginner - I haven't used a sewing machine since borrowing my gran's to help make dolls clothes a long, long time ago!) Have you had fun putting it to use yet? Sx

  13. Well done on winning your Singer on Ebay. They are lovely machines. I have 2 old Singers, one a Featherweight and one similar to yours. Thank you for the 'interesting' website link. I'm off to find more information for my machines.
    Love from Mum
