Knitting a kyoto

So the baby is almost one and there has been a distinct lack of knitted loveliness in her life. A birthday approaching and a super sweet pattern found, I plan to rectify this. Here is the cute cardigan I am hoping she will be wearing on her first birthday.  I hope writing this will give me the motivation to blow the dust of my needles.

These sweet booties were  the last thing I knitted for her; escaping from the builders last year I made these before she was here.

Whilst grocery shopping late last night I found some rather lovely craft books and wool amidst the lemonade and work boots, Aldi is a little random at times.  This purple wool with a hint of sparkle will be a huge hit with her older sister if not appreciated by the smallest one. Three balls of wool for a fiver makes me a happy knitter and feel slightly less guilty about buying another craft book. I think the Kyoto pattern will look super sweet in the turquoise wool.

The pressure is on to finish her cardigan in a fortnight, maybe I will just sew her a super fast birthday spring skirt instead!

Are you a deadline crafter or does that take away the relaxation side of making for you?

  1. I started and finished two quilts in December. One was a double size for KL, the other was a lap size for K and A , along with 3 matching cushions. It was a mad dash to get them done, and whilst I loved the finished articles, I didn't enjoy the process as much as I usually do when I'm crafting.

  5. I'm an eager starter but a dreadfully slow finisher offer! I've a teeny cardigan here almost done. It's been almost done for two weeks! Why won't I just get on and DO it?!!!!

    1. Almost done is the worst, motivation seems to disappear at that point!

  6. That is such a beautiful cardi, Grace, your little one will look lovely in it, and those yarn colours are gorgeous - I love mauve and aqua together! Joy x

  7. Where has that year gone?! I'm a bit of both - sometimes I need a deadline and it does make me more focused but other times I only want to do what I'm in the mood for! Lovely cardi. xXx

  8. With such a busy household I don't know how you find the time but I'm sure if you make your mind up to have it completed your steely determination will make it so.

  9. It's always good to have a deadline & to try & determinedly stick to them! I' m determined to set myself some simple realistic projects soon, if you can do it with 7 I'm sure I can rustle something up with 2! Love the booties - yet to get into knitting, learnt to knit years ago but not to cast off..

  10. I've picked up some random (but good) quilting books in Aldi before, they seem to sell all sorts. I think the cardi will look great in the turquoise wool. I sometimes need a deadline to stop me from having six WIPs on the go at once and to make me finish something! x
